11/23 - Note on department data in the Web of Science

In October 2023, the Web of Science, produced by Clarivate, extends the unification of organizations to include departments within author affiliations. The Université de Lorraine was asked to update this new information on a voluntary basis, the vast majority of which was incorrect. The Open Science steering committee of November 17, 2023 gave its opinion on this request; it will only be partially processed, except in return for a 50% reduction on the Web of Science subscription.

02/22 - Open Science at the University of Lorraine: assessment of actions undertaken and challenges for the future

The present document aims to briefly describe the actions undertaken by the University of Lorraine within the framework of its Open Science policy, itself in the footsteps of the first National Plan for Open Science of 2018 (PNSO1), and then to outline the major challenges for the institution in this area, drawing inspiration from the second National Plan for Open Science, published in 2021 (PNSO2), from the initiatives of the European Commission, and from the recent recommendation of UNESCO. The first part of the report will therefore present the results of the achievements, structuring them through the major axes of the PNSO1; as well as the second part, which will try to anticipate the major issues for the years to come, helped in this by the PNSO2, whose structure it adopts.

06/21 - 2020 Activity Report of the Support to Research Mission (Documentation Direction)

Established in September 2019, the Support to Research Mission (MAR) brings together 9 library staff who are active on many issues and projects, mainly related to Open Science. The year 2020, marked by the health crisis, was thus the first full year of activity for the MAR. This report aims to present all the fields of intervention and achievements of the staff attached to the MAR and the staff of the Research Support Network spread throughout the campus libraries of the University of Lorraine.

03/21 - Business model, revenue models, publishing contracts and Creative Commons licenses for Éditions de l'Université de Lorraine

During a 4-week internship in March 2021 within the DDOC’s research support mission, Cyril Czernielewski, a student curator of libraries at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Sciences de l’Information et des Bibliothèques (ENSSIB), examined the question of the economic model for university presses distributing open-access works. In this report, he presents a synthesis of the state of the art and makes a certain number of proposals for the new publishing house of the University of Lorraine, based on his readings and interviews with a dozen managers of French university presses.

09/21 - PUBLICATION AND OPEN ACCESS PRACTICES OF RESEARCHERS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF LORRAINE

Carried out by the Couperin consortium in the spring of 2019 among the entire French community of researchers and doctoral students, a vast survey of publication practices provided information that was as yet unpublished on this scale. The results were made public in January 2020 and the data in July 2020.

Members of the academic community of the University of Lorraine (UL) participated massively in this survey and represented the largest cohort of respondents.

This synthesis presents the main lessons that can be drawn on the basis of the responses from UL. Six themes have been selected: assessment of the scientific publication system; publication in open access journals; deposit in an open archive (HAL); sharing of research data; preprints and evaluation.

10/19 - Publishing in open access journals. Status and trends at the University of Lorraine (2012-2018)

Publishing in an open access journal is one of the two historical paths of Open Access as defined by the Budapest Declaration in 2001. This report studies the appropriation of this form of publication by researchers at the University of Lorraine in all disciplinary fields over a seven-year period (2012-2018). As some open access journals require the payment of publication fees (APC), the financial impact is also taken into account and analyzed.
