Journal network

We have been running a network of scientific journals in Lorraine since 2022. It brings together researchers, editors, and scientific and technical information professionals from the Lorraine region to:

  • share editorial quality standards and professional skills;
  • encourage the transition of local journals to open science;
  • facilitate exchanges between professionals involved in the publication of scientific journals in the Lorraine region.

For more details, see the roadmap. Would you like to join this network? Contact us:

Diamond fund

The University of Lorraine provides financial support to diamond journals on the Lorraine site.

Since 2020, the UL has contributed to several calls for projects from the National Fund for Open Science. In 2024, it launched a program to fund diamond journals linked to its open science support fund.

The budget comes from savings made by unsubscribing from Wiley resources (2024) and support from the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation as part of the Objectives, Means and Performance Contract (COMP) in 2025 and 2026. The aim is to continue this system beyond 2026.

Partnerships, projects, and networks

We are involved in several professional networks and projects around scientific publishing:

  • Médici: Network of public scientific publishing professions: we contribute to the Copyright and LaTeX working groups.
  • Repères: the UL co-leads the Referencing working group and the Spoc Quéro national certification training program in this network, which brings together open access journal incubators.
  • OPERAS: we are involved in the Open Access Business Model and Best Practices working groups within this European network on open scientific communication in the humanities and social sciences.
  • FNSO Diamant’AIR project: the UL is leading this project with INRAE and OPERAS to create the Lorraine diamond resource center and consolidate the site’s journal support services.
  • ALMASI European project: we are partners in this project, which aims to develop a sustainable, high-quality diamond ecosystem in Europe, Latin America, and Africa.
